Rosé wines are back in a big way. They never truly left, but were lumped in with White Zinfandel and went the way of Merlot post-Sideways. In fact while this post was sitting in my draft folder, PUNCH just did a great piece on the making of this rosé comeback.

Rosé wines are typically dry and fruity without being overtly sweet. They’re super food friendly and with two extra large ice cubes and a little Fresca, they make for a fun daytime cocktail (don’t tell any of my wine snob friends!).

I’d first read about The Fremont Diner when Alexis wrote about it years ago (and her description does it justice in a way that I never could so check it out) and it’d been on my list ever since. I finally had the opportunity this week when I ventured out to Sonoma to do some wine tasting with coworkers at Repris on Moon Mountain. dessert for breakfast

I feel like good old classic cakes have really had to take a backseat lately while trendy desserts take the stage. Cake pops? Blech. However, I think you’ll all have to agree that no red velvet whoopie pie could steal the spotlight from this show stopper of a cake.
It’s an oreo olallieberry chocolate layer cake and it was created by Stephanie from Desserts For Breakfast. I mean…. drippy chocolate ganache with GOLD FLECKS. Are you joking me?! If you look closely at the second photo you can see the gold in the (beautifully and naturally colored) frosting. Drool.
