dessert for breakfast

I feel like good old classic cakes have really had to take a backseat lately while trendy desserts take the stage. Cake pops? Blech. However, I think you’ll all have to agree that no red velvet whoopie pie could steal the spotlight from this show stopper of a cake.
It’s an oreo olallieberry chocolate layer cake and it was created by Stephanie from Desserts For Breakfast. I mean…. drippy chocolate ganache with GOLD FLECKS. Are you joking me?! If you look closely at the second photo you can see the gold in the (beautifully and naturally colored) frosting. Drool.

  1. I agree, cakepops are BLECH, they taste raw. Cakes are a great old standby, and if you ever want to be in cake heaven, you need to get to the deep south where scratch baked cakes seem to come with every meal!!
